Despite the positive assurances of world leading economy leaders, the effects of the world economic downturn is felt most heavily in the job hunting arena particularly by the new inexperienced job hunters.
Just recently I received an email from a graduate engineer who was previously dislodged from his job. He is asking if our company has some requirements for some like him. It was unfortunate that currently unless required, our company refrains from hiring new employees, more so inexperienced ones.
Recession does not only affect the inexperienced but likewise the old timers. A friend of mine back in high school who was already employed by a gas company for almost 20 years has been put into the edge of the knife just recently. He said that I did not imagine myself job hunting at my age now but I am. Previously I was doing the interview for job applicants but now, I am the one being interviewed.
To cope up with the tight competition for jobs, here are some recession job hunting tips:
- Your first job does have to be your dream job
if you find a job that give you the experience in your chosen field, go for it - Diversify your knowledge
A well-rounded job hunter has an advantage. - Expand your search
Expand your search area. - Do not worry about what others think
It is your life, not theirs. - Early birds catches the worms
Be prepared to apply for a job the earliest possible opportunity - Be confident, sell yourself
Modesty has its place, but not in your resume or interviews.

Our country was also hit hard by the Economic Recession. At least we are seeing some signs of economic recovery now. I hope that we could recover soon from this recession.
