While watching television this morning, my attention was caught when one of their guest provided some tips in creating a better or high impact resume.
Tip #1: Don't get too detail on the dates of your resume.

February 2004 - January 2009

2004 - 2009
Reason: Including the months in your work experience could show gaps. These gaps could provide lessen the total years of experience and the number of months being jobless.
Tip #2: Don't put the date you graduated.
Example (Bad)
University A
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
March 2004
Example (Good)
University A
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Reason: The date will indicate how old you are. This might give you some disadvantage.
Tip #3: Don't be too specific on your personal summary
Example (Bad)
An engineer with 25 years experience in design. To be employed by a successful design company.
Example (Good)
An engineer well-experienced in design. To be a part of a company involved in design.
Reason: The number of years of experience will indicate your age. Being selective on the company will discriminate you from being interviewed by new companies.
Tip #4: Be specific on your duties and responsibilities.
Example (Bad)
In charge of big budget projects.
Example (Good)
Managed and deilivered a $100M EPCM project for Company Z within agreed time duration and budget.
These tips are not very extra-ordinary but often overlooked by job seekers.
