I think the statements above have got mixed up. they should read :-
- the total KVAs in series is the arithmatic sum……etc.
- the total KVAs in parallel is the reciprocal sum… etc.
also I think the equation for the parallel KVAs example should be as following:
KVA total = (KVA1 x KVA3) / ( KVA1+KVA3) + ( KVA2 x KVAn) / KVA2+KVAn)
Probably you are thinking about resistances.
To give an example to clarify that KVA in parallel are are added, say if you have two 500KVA transformers in parallel, what is the total KVA? It will be 1000KVA and not 250KVA.
you are correct there but still I think there are some contradictions there because you have 4 transformers in series and they are added arithmatically (first diagram). then you have 2 transformers in each circuit in the second diagram and they are added reciprocally. How is that? Thanks.
